Dental, Vision & Hearing

Original Medicare leaves big gaps in dental, vision, and hearing, the everyday care you actually use. A single standalone plan fills all three, usually for a surprisingly low monthly premium.

Why do I need these? Doesn’t Medicare cover them?

Original Medicare only covers dental, vision, and hearing when it’s tied to inpatient or outpatient medical necessity, not the routine care most people need.

The gaps

What Original Medicare leaves out

Here’s the everyday care you’re mostly on your own for.

Dental

Medicare’s dental coverage is very limited, no routine checkups, cleanings, fillings, dentures, or most extractions. Supplements don’t cover these either; some Advantage plans include limited dental benefits.

Vision

In most cases Original Medicare doesn’t cover routine eye exams, glasses, or contacts. Part B pays once after cataract surgery (one standard pair), plus glaucoma screening for high-risk patients and certain diagnostic tests.

Hearing

Medicare does not cover hearing aids. Part B covers some diagnostic hearing & balance exams through your primary care provider, and a portion of costs once treatment is recommended.

One simple plan covers all three.
What we’ve found works best is a standalone plan that combines dental, vision & hearing, a low monthly premium with far more coverage than Original Medicare provides on its own.
